Our top story today takes us to the Gulf Coast, where Hurricane Isaac may have been downgraded to a tropical storm, but it continues to wreak havoc in Louisiana.But not ONLY Louisiana. Isaac_s effects are being felt far and wide. Victoria Sinclair and Eila Adams have been tracking the storm and join us now with all the latest. Ladies?Thanks you two. US President Barack Obama inked major disaster orders for the states of Louisiana and Mississippi as Isaac continues its slow march across the Gulf Coast. Some areas were hit with as much as 20 inches of rain, and the storm is believed to have spawned at least three tornadoes that touched down in Alabama and Mississippi. At least 840-thousand people in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Alabama, and Arkansas have been left without power. Meanwhile, authorities were warning residents in small towns outside of New Orleans to leave their homes due to storm surges and flooding. National Guard troops are working around the clock to pull people out of flood waters and evacuated affected areas. An international conference in Iran turned ugly on Thursday when Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi called for an end to the violence in Syria. Speaking at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran, Morsi called the government of Syrian leader Bashar al Assad an oppressive regime that had lost its legitimacy.In response, Syrian delegates walked out in the middle of Morsi_s speech. Morsi_s words likely angered not only Syrian officials, but Iranian representatives as well. Iran is one of Syria_s few remaining close allies. The soon-to-be released book of a Navy SEAL_s account of the death of Osama bin Laden seems to contradict key details of the incident in the official report. In No Easy Day, former SEAL Matt Bissonnette says that troops saw bin Laden at the top of a darkened hallway and opened fire before determining whether or not he was armed. The White House version of events claims that the SEALs opened fire after bin Laden had retreated into a bedroom, where he may have had a weapon. Despite being released near election time, Bissonnette claims the book has no political agenda, and is instead meant to commemorate the September eleventh attacks. Hallway, bedroom – I doubt I_m alone when I say I_m just happy they got him. I totally agree but he_s getting a lot of press and for those of you interested in learning more about the book, Bissonnette will be profiled on 60 Minutes this Sunday.
